Frequently Asked Questions
Got questions?
We've got answers.
Everything you need to know about selling, getting paid, and shopping safely on Vendopage — wherever you are in Africa.
Getting Started
What is Vendopage?
Vendopage gives you one permanent link for your business — vendopage.com/yourname — where buyers can browse everything you sell. Instead of reposting products on WhatsApp Status every day, you build your catalog once and share the same link everywhere: WhatsApp, Instagram, Twitter, anywhere your customers are.
Is Vendopage free to use?
Yes. Creating an account, building your catalog, and sharing your store link is completely free on the Starter plan. If you turn on Store Mode to accept payments directly, a small percentage is taken from each completed sale to cover payment processing — there's no monthly cost unless you choose to upgrade for lower transaction fees and a higher monthly sales cap.
Is Vendopage only for Nigeria?
No. Vendopage was built with Nigerian vendors in mind, but the platform works for sellers and buyers across Africa. Your store link works the same everywhere — what matters is that you and your customers can communicate (usually via WhatsApp) and that your payout details are set up correctly for your country.
What's the difference between Catalog Mode and Store Mode?
In Catalog Mode, your page works as a free, shareable product list — buyers see your items and contact you on WhatsApp to negotiate and pay however you normally would. In Store Mode, buyers can pay directly on your page with a card or bank transfer, your sale goes through escrow, and you receive payouts automatically once delivery is confirmed. You can switch Store Mode on once you've added a payout account.
Payments & Escrow
How does escrow protect buyers and sellers?
When a buyer pays through Store Mode, the money doesn't go straight to the seller — it's held safely until the order is confirmed as delivered. The seller ships the item and uploads tracking info, the buyer confirms they received it (or the order auto-confirms after 72 hours), and only then is the payout released to the seller. If something goes wrong, either side can raise a dispute before the money moves.
When do I actually get paid after a sale?
Once a buyer confirms they've received their order, there's a 24-hour buffer (this lines up with our payment provider's settlement cycle), and then your payout is sent automatically — usually overnight. So if a buyer confirms receipt today, you'll typically see the funds the following day. Your dashboard's Transactions page shows exactly where each order is in this process, including an estimated payout time.
Why didn't my payout go through on a weekend?
Payouts don't run on Saturdays or Sundays because our payment provider doesn't settle funds on weekends — so there's nothing to pay out from yet. Any orders confirmed over the weekend are queued up and paid out automatically on Monday morning along with everything else in the queue. Nothing is lost; it's just a short delay.
Is "Direct Pay" the same as escrow?
No. With Direct Pay, once a buyer marks an order as received, the payout is released right away without the 24-hour escrow buffer. It's faster for sellers but gives buyers slightly less of a protection window, so it's best suited for low-risk or quick local orders.
Fees & Plans
How much does Vendopage charge per sale?
On the free Starter plan, Vendopage takes 5% of each Store Mode sale to cover payment processing — there's no separate "platform fee" on top. If you upgrade to Growth or Pro, that percentage drops to 2.5% or 1.5% respectively, up to a monthly sales volume cap for your plan. Catalog Mode (WhatsApp-only sales) is always free, since no payment passes through Vendopage.
What happens if I go over my plan's monthly cap?
Each paid plan (Growth and Pro) has a monthly sales volume cap that comes with its discounted fee. Once your processed volume for the month crosses that cap, any further sales that month are charged at the standard 5% rate until your volume resets the following month. You can see your current usage and cap on your Settings page.
Can I downgrade or cancel my plan anytime?
Yes. You can switch back to the free Starter plan at any time from your Subscription page — there's no penalty and it takes effect immediately. Upgrading to a paid plan is handled securely through our payment provider.
Orders, Delivery & Disputes
What if my order never arrives, or arrives damaged?
As a buyer, you can open a dispute directly from your order page — choose a reason (not received, damaged, wrong item, not as described), describe what happened, and attach evidence if you have it. As soon as a dispute is raised, that order's payout is automatically frozen so the seller can't be paid until our team reviews it. Most disputes are reviewed within 48 hours.
How are disputes resolved?
Once a dispute is opened, the seller is notified and can respond with their side and any evidence (proof of shipping, photos, etc.). Our team reviews both sides and decides one of two outcomes: a full refund back to the buyer, or releasing the payment to the seller if the order was legitimate. Whichever way it's resolved, both the buyer and seller receive an email update.
What happens if I don't confirm receipt of my order?
If a seller marks an order as shipped and the buyer doesn't confirm or open a dispute within 72 hours, the order auto-confirms as received. This protects sellers from orders being stuck in limbo forever, while still giving buyers a full 3-day window to flag any problems.
Do I need an account to buy from a Vendopage store?
No. Buyers don't need to create an account to shop or pay on a seller's store page. You'll just provide your name, contact details, and delivery address at checkout, and you'll get an order confirmation by email with a link to track its status, confirm delivery, or raise a dispute if needed.
